in last four, Kochin sent packing- NEW
DELHI: Defending champions FC Kochin crashed out of the Kelvinator-Durand
Cup championship despite playing a 1-1 draw against last year's runners-up
Mohun Bagan in the quarter-final league. Bagan, who have four points by
virtue of a win and this draw, entered the semi-finals while Kochin, with
three points from three drawn matches, go home. Also entering the semis
were Air India, who split points with Vasco Sports Club (Goa) 1-1.

India stun Mohun Bagan, Vasco hold Kochin - NEW DELHI:
NEW DELHI, OCT 24: Air India (Mumbai) stunned Mohun Bagan with a
75th-minute goal by Anthony Fernandez in the quarter-final league match
of the Kelvinator-Durand Cup football tournament. Vasco Sports Club (Goa)
managed a draw with defending champions FC Kochin.

Bagan win, Kochin held-NEW DELHI: Football
fans at the Ambedkar Stadium had a disappointing day as fancied teams put
up a mediocre show in the opening fixtures of the Durand Cup here on Thursday.
This was understandable as key players of both the teams are away either
on national duty at Asian youth soccer or attending the Asian Games camp.

to meet Air India- NEW DELHI: The
absence of key players from major clubs of the country has robbed this
year's Durand Cup football tournament of its glamour as most of them are
away in the national camp in a bid to make it to the Asian Games
if cleared by the Indian Olympic Association.
